11 Abandoned Highways That Lead to Oblivion

  California’s abandoned stretch of U.S. Highway 101 wraps in and around the mountains in the area, and it should come as no surprise that many cars and other vehicles actually slid off the road and down into the valleys below. In an age when everything is all about convenience, it’s no wonder why this scenic route was left to the dust. Repairs would have been expensive and rock slides were probably a regular occurrence, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take the hike. It’s well worth it.
